Hi Crystie,
This is a nice lesson on birds and their nesting and flirting habits.
I think this is a new and interesting way for an animal to attract a mate.
Keep writing and stay happy.
Congrats on placing second in the contest.
Have a nice rest of the week.
Joan

I learned something new about the wren. Without your notes, just reading it gave me a calm feeling, and I enjoyed it. With your notes it gave me a better understanding of your poem. Excellent work.

Crystiecookie,

What a beautiful poem this is. I love how it flows and all connects. It is interesting that they build half nest to attract the female of the species.

Well done and good luck in the contest.

Cecilia

This is a really cool factoid. The last part in particular (half-finished grass-twig marsh nest) has a certain ring to it, a little like the song of the grass mud horse, which is in some literal sense what this is about but your version is much cleaner.

There's a quirkiness to this piece that at first feels awkward (warble-weaves) but after it sits a bit, feels like it fits rather appropriately. Cool, distinctive writing.

Best regards,

🦍

What a great four line poem Crystie. I truly enjoyed reading this poem too. I can't write four-liners, I am not sure why, but it seems to be a harder format for me. Great work! Keep it up...

I loved this! The wren weaving all day is so well done. I feel like it is building something delicate but also strong. The line "lattice-work of love" is so beautiful - it makes the nest feel like a labor of love. There's such warmth in just a few lines. Really well done!

The imagery written and photo presentation is very delightful. You used your syllables well and paint a picture with words. Your author note is very interesting, too.

Best wishes,

Alex

This four-line poem, Marsh Wren, has the proper formatting and speaks of the home being woven together by the industrious wren, while onlookers marvel.

Thank you for your great review. I think they keep their little nests concealed to the best of their ability. Maybe they have little wren realtors who keep track of where all the hide-aways are located.

These are unique and rather clever little birds and there have been many stories and poems written about them. I enjoyed your upbeat poem Crystie as you captured their activity in the tress working away merrily at building a nest, much enjoyed, love Dolly x x x
