I love the way your poem shares the beauty of butterflies! I love how you write about her wings barely touching the air yet flying with such ease. Perfect. Your descriptions like "a breath that flows upon a breeze" and "a palette dressed with lovely jewels," are also so perfect and charming. This is colorful, upbeat, classic romanticism in rhymed quatrains. Sort of in the vein of Landor, I think. I like this image of the butterfly as a wisp of wind. I think that catches the fragility, the ethereal nature of the butterfly image, along with the spirit in it. estory

What a beautiful poem about the wings of a butterfly! It scans, it rhymes and the whole poem brings such clear images of their glory - even a blind person would be able to 'see' the butterfly!

Not too long ago I went to a museum that had a walki-in interactive butterfly sanctuary. It was so amazing. There were so many varieties and colorful butterflies flying all around. Some even would land on shoulders, heads and outstretched hands. Your poem brought back that memorable experience for me. Thank you for sharing this with us.
