Rejection is good. Yes, really? It is a great motivator. The first lesson we learn as writers is never accept the word "NO" it does not exist in our vocabulary. Everybody loves to say no, but there are those who say yes and if you keep writing, it will come to you. That "One" and it will be great!!! Keep up the great work!

Thank you. Yes I suppose getting rejected is a motive to try and overcome the odds. I do appreciate your warm review.

Yes, it is. I am the REJECTION KING. I have been told no more than any man on earth. That is because I have pushed more than any man on earth. However, I have gotten my victories as well, and you will too!

Please don't let rejection steal the joy and pleasure that you gain when you express yourself with your writing. the majority of time it does not reflect on your work, it's just people to busy and wrapped in themselves to take the time to stop and consider what you have shared. I don't have a lot of followers, but each one is worth a pot of gold to me because they give me the encouragement to keep going, to share what I love to do. Don't give up - Believe in yourself and write to satisfy you...the rest will come.
Smiles and hugs, Carol

Thank you. I love following you. Your stories are awesome. I think you will probably win in the power of you contest as your story was so poignant. I voted for you at least. So you definitely have a fan in me.

It thrills me when someone enjoys my stories...even though I might be currently in number one, I don't hve a lot of followers like some on this site. I appreciate it every time you or anyone reads and enjoys what I share. Thank you. Smiles, Carol

Keep writing above all else keep writing. Even if you would never to get a literary publisher, you do not understand truly how much good the writing is doing you. I am praying for you and I know that you say you're not religious but that's OK. I can still pray for you and your writing is very good. I have enjoyed it very much. Patricia.

Don't you dare give up! I can't believe anyone here is tearing down your work but if they are you should block them. The reviews might give suggestions or let you know about typos but that is for your benefit and not to tear you down. It is to help make you a better writer which is why you're here. and don't for a second think that no one else knows what rejection feels like. I could wallpaper my bathroom with the rejection letters I have received over the years. Thank goodness for the ones around me who believed in me and kept me motivated and who still do. So, get it out of your system in this poem and then get back to writing! and by the way...it is 2025. You don't need a literary agent! Be your own agent and put out your own book. It's a new world out there! :-)

Thank you for kind words. I don't mind constructive criticism, I welcome it in fact. I just always fall way to short in the contests I enter receiving zero votes. It gets to me way more than it should. But I'm sensitive.

If you would like some constructive feedback before you enter your submission I'll be happy to help and maybe together we can get you a win. Sometimes it is the total presentation including how the words are set on the page, how the background and text colors look and the chosen picture. It just takes time to figure all this stuff out but it gets easier as you go along. Let me know if you'd like some help.

Your poem really shares the deep pain of rejection. I could feel every bit of that emotion. That line about critics getting pleasure in tearing you down really stood out - I hate to say it but it sounds so true! I hope you keep writing - rejection doesn't define your worth. Keep going!

Thank you for your kind words. I'm just highly discouraged. I won all kinds of writing contests in high school and those days are but distant memories.

Have you ever heard of Phil Stutz, he is a psychiatrist with an amazing philosophy and I believe there is a program on Netflix about him. He believes that life is full of hurdles and we must learn to count the pearls along the way instead of the bumps in the road. For instance, each achievement is a pearl during the day. We wake, shower and get dressed, this is an achievement, we go for a walk and enjoy the simple pleasures of insects, birds and flowers, a few more pearls added to our day and so on. It is this kind of practice that improves our attitude to life.

As far as receiving rejections is concerned, we need to focus on the person who is rejecting us, do they have problems and they are just taking out their frustration on us? If so, then this behaviour should wash over you without any emotion felt.

If, however, you believe that some of their belief is warranted, then perhaps we need to address our own behaviour.

I enjoy all reviews on Fanstory, good and bad and only listen to those reviews that have constructive criticism and ignore the rest.

Having the confidence to make decisions about yourself and others is all down to practice Kirsten. Take on board good critique.

We all need to learn to be open to improvement and do our best, if you have done that then you need sit back and be satisfied with yourself.

Perhaps a writing course would help your self confidence? Never give up if you have a passion for writing, you just have to try harder.

Thank you for your lengthy and wonderful review you just spoke a lot of great words of wisdom. It is hard to not get bogged down by negative criticism. I will try to continue to write but I feel like giving up for now. I will at least stay on fan story for a little bit longer so I don't miss out on gems like your poems. I might force myself to write another chapter of my book today, but I am really feeling discouraged. Thanks for reading.

There's a real vulnerability in this piece, Kirsten, that deserves recognition. The acrostic structure gives it a quiet rhythm, but it's the emotional openness that makes it resonate.
Lines like "Everything crumbles inside my head" and "my stories will die with me" hit with real weight because they're not trying to dress anything up-they just are.
That said, a few lines could be gently refined to deepen their impact. For instance, "Critics are like that, getting pleasure in tearing me down" is honest, but might land more powerfully with a touch of imagery-perhaps something like "Critics circle like crows, hungry for weakness". A small shift like that could give the emotion more shape and space to linger.
Even so, the core of this works because it feels true.
Sometimes getting the feeling out is the whole point, and this does that well.
Thanks for sharing something this personal-it will speak to others who've stood in the same space.

Thank you so much for your suggestion. You obviously could have written this poem better than I can. Thank you for your kind and very detailed review. Have a nice day.

No Kirsten, It is your poem and only you could have created it.
It is raw and honest, that has to come from within you and you did itwell, if I make a suggestion, it is only ever that, my personal opinion and in no way trying to rewrite it.
You have talent, and if you keep refining it, you will ultimately succeed
