I had to smile when I read your recollection of the squirrel destroying your kitchen. Cute they might look, but a cat is a much safer bet! I'm so enjoying your memoirs written to your husband, and I hope your children appreciate the effort you've put in to creating them. Well done.

Thanks again, Where I live now, squirrels are everywhere and they have ceased being so cute. My children do like my story and two of them are reading it as I write it. I'm enjoying the memories as well.

Interesting that you would want a squirrel pet. They are cute but also very feisty. We had a family member that use to sit in the yard and crack nuts. He was a patient fellow and became friends with the squirrel. The squirrel liked the hickory nuts.

My dad had a squirrel for a pet when he was a boy and he told many amusing stories about it. Until I moved to the city, I'd never been around squirrels and I didn't realize how wild they are when they are cornered.

Nice detailed description of your new place to live.

Taking our laundry to a commercial laundromat got old quickly--I remember those days too.

How great to have neighbor who loved to share her talent for cooking.

Audrey sounds evil. Bet we've had neighbors who used people.

The Baptist church is a cult to my way of thinking.

Hey,playing with squirrels is not a good idea. I think a bite could cause rabies.

Again, this reminded me of a few incidences in my life.

Thanks for the Review and enjoyed your comments. Audrey was a bit on the dangerous side. Almost got me in trouble a few times. I kept trying with the squirrels and later found a baby but he didn't work out either. Since I have bird feeders now I've learned to hate them.

Loved this trek down memory lane! The squirrel story was a great ending and left me laughing. I too have been there, done that with ideas I later regretted. Thanks for a glimpse of your memories.

-P1 - "Each room had it's own bath" should be Each room had its own bath

-P3 - "There was no hookups" should be There were no hookups

-P5 - after "them" and "hours" no need for double ..

-P9 - "hospital couple times" should be hospital a couple times

Story continues to be interesting, but better leave them wild squirrels outside where they belong. This apartment seemed to be a much improved situation for you over the last one. Can see your whole demeanor seemed to improve as well. Keep this interesting bio coming.

My reviews are mere suggestions. Feel free to use anything that provides assistance and/or chuck the whole shebang.

I enjoyed your biography as told to your husband. I felt I was a fly on the wall taking it all in. I, too, was a Baptist for many years, and a Sunday School teacher! A lifetime ago, but yet, only yesterday. I enjoyed your rich descriptions and especially the tuna salad with pecans. I do the same.
Sending you my best today as always, dear Beth,

I absolutely loved the first part where you and your husband were trying your best to make do with things as they were in your new apartment! Never before did I imagine clothes hanging in the kitchen! The lady across the hall with her Bible practice excuse was such a cliche! And lastly, oops with the squirrel thing! They are cute creatures but only from a distance haha! :-)

It sounds likely you've been a long time Christian, my elder daughter and son in law belong to a large baptist church in Brisbane we live in Adelaide 2000 kms away, it's a lovely church, they were both raised as Pentecostals, but don't like the hype. I was lured by God personally, when He called me, I think, quite literally out of darkness. As my first church was a home church, and gave us a brilliant grounding, they'd been tossed out of a church of Christ denomination because the because his wife had been healed by God of an incurable blood disease, 36 years later she's still alive, he was an elder there. Beautifully written Beth, (Beth is my elder son in law's mother.) well done, blessings Roy

Thank you Roy, for the review and the nice comments. I've been a believer all my life. I don't always agree with certain dogma but none of us have all the answers. I can't imagine anyone being tossed out of church because God healed them. Beth

He came into a deeper understanding which upset the comfort of the church leaders, I think he had to leave because she received her healing in a Pentecostal church, like the original Pharisees said that Jesus was performing miracles by the power of Beelzebub, it still exists in the church today Beth.

Interesting memoir Beth. I can relate to how different church upbringing can sometimes make for conflict. Different world back when. It was interesting how you talk of how when you are young the struggles we have for work and to be accepted by others. That's kind of what I get from reading it. There is much I can relate to.

I am enjoying your story , Beth. Your imagery is well done and I find you do A good job moving forward with the story. You seem to have the same idea of how a woman should follow her husbands lead in many areas of a marriage. Well done. Nancy:)
