So glad that you enjoyed your stay at Nashville until the last night or so. We have been to Nashville and have seen the sites, too. Usually when you go to a conference the time you spend is educational even if you do a tour of your own.

I answered this one already but I don't think it went through. I live in Chattanooga, Tennessee now, so I've gone to Nashville often. We used to go to Operland util they tore it down. The Operland Hotel is fabulous.

Wish I had a six this has been one of your best chapters so far. The description of the features of Nashville should please some of your more critical reviewers as well. Good work! Just one possible correction The Grand Ole Op[era] is it "(rey?)" Or (Opry)

I think the separate kitchens in the South were known as "Ante bellum"

Thank you so much for the review. I'm glad you found this one interesting. It is Opry I looked it up. Antebellum means before the war referring to the civil war. That period in history was known as that. The separate kitchen was called a summer kitchen. It was to keep the house from heating up to much. I think they had another kitchen inside for winter months.

Thanks for the correction. If you check out Barbara Wilkey she has written several novels based in the south mostly fiction and she wrote a book on a Jewish girl I thorolughly recommend her we are currently reading one of her books about a young PI and her boy friend's late sister that was murdered Ulla (FS Member) is also a good read as well,

Yes, I'm a fan of Barbara. I read the Southern novel when I was on FanStory before. I'm also reading her current one.

That is good to know. She is so good and a great supporter as well. I hope she is reading your story to your Late husband.

Yes, she is. She is very supportive.

It sounds like you had a great trip. You learned a lot, saw a lot, and perhaps even bonded more with your mom. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder. So maybe that little break did you two some good. Your chapter is well-written, very interesting. I look forward to reading more.

Dear Beth, what an interesting chapter, it was almost like a guided walking tour of all the interesting places in Nashville.
But there are several places you need to fix, both in grammar and syntax. (I am sure you will see them when your eyes are rested.)
One other suggestion, I know you like to leave your reader with a cliffhanger, BUT. This time it is not fitting or effective. Please delete the brick thru the window in this chapter and deal with those issues later.

Thank you so much for the review and comments. I am for sure having eye problems. As for the brick through the window, I didn't mean it for cliffhanger. Just a record of any good or bad that happened on the trip. I won't be mentioning that again since I've left Nashville. The school wasn't in the better section of the city.

Yay--you finally got a well-deserved vacation of sorts. Wonderful descriptions of the sights; the details of the class and the dismay re finding you're earning 25 cents on the male dollar. Nice to know you were missed to the extent you got a love poem. Well done! Cheers. LIZ

Thank you so much for the review and the comments. I was upset about the difference in the pay. However, part of the difference was most of the guys were from a part of the country where the cost of living was higher than in South.

Thank you Chuck, You know I appreciate your reviews. I'm sorry to hear that you've lost one of your children. Graphic arts is a field I enjoyed. Everything we did back then is done differently today. My granddaughter is a graphic artist. She does everything on the computer.

I'm actually so jealous reading of this. I was in all the way as you toured the city. It sounds like you had a better than expected time in the city and on your schooling. It is good to visit other places. I know it was different for me going to live Texas where I met my wife, as someone from NY. Very good.

I really enjoyed this post, not only because I learned much, but also because of The Hermitage, which I had visited as a teenager. I was impressed with the history.

So your dear husband was a poet after all. I enjoyed this episode of your educational trip to Nashville, I can remember Tennessee Ford appearing in an Andy Griffith show, including Ronnie Howard as Andy's son. I loved this fabulous episode Beth, thank you for the tour of the Nashville episode, well done, blessings, Roy

Thank you for the review. I don't think he wrote any more poems. He did write a rhyming slogan once when he was in Korea . It won a contest and It earned him a trip to Japan.

Thanks for the tour of Nashville. Love the story of Tennessee Ernie Ford. Why didn't you post that picture?
The southern states never paid as high as the North. But back then, it cost a lot more to live in cold country.
What a homecoming. Your hubby wrote a poem. Bet you got down and dirty that night. LOL

Thank you for the review and comments. You're right about the higher cost of living in the Northern and Eastern states. I'm sure you were also right about what happened later. LOL
