Your life sounds pretty normal. The interaction that your father had with Don must have been disturbing. It is strange how some people are unable to cope with certain things, in life. Of all your children Don is the most interesting. He seems to be grappling with problems of one sort or the other at various times in his life. It isn't easy for a boy with only sisters.
I've been privy to a few men that have grown up in those circumstances and it does seem a problem.

Thank you so much for going back and reading some of these earlier stories. I'm glad I was a girl or I'm sure my father would have been hard for me to deal with. Don as a young boy did seem to have a lot of problems. He's always been a little different. Some of the girls gave me more problems as the grew.

Your family saga makes such interesting reading. It is populated with characters whose personalities come to life through remembered situations. Finding out later what was happening in the children's lives back then gives you a chance for some analysis. The story of the school bully dying of cancer and the prayer that might have caused it is a gripping aspect.

This is a terrific method to preserve that intimate capture of family history in a conversational tone. The events come through with analysis and candor that will be appreciated by those who read it later. So neat.

Hi Beth, so much is happening in your children's life at this stage. They are all learning to grow up, and that is never easy. So much to learn and so much to assimilate. You write this so very well. It's a joy to read. Ulla:)))

Your chapter is aptly named! You've gone into great and excellent detail about family relationships. Not too many revisions, but I will return with them later. You have my attention, as always!

Once again, I enjoyed reading your memoirs. My father had a horrible temper, but after he blew up he would always tells us/remind us how much he loved us. I do understand what you're saying. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you Barbara, I really appreciate the review and comments.
Kids can make you feel like raising your voice to get their attention. My Dad had a bad temper but he calmed down as he got older. My husband didn't lose lose his temper often and the he felt bad if he raised his voice. He also had much better control as he aged.

Some very interesting stories here all woven together. Thanks for sharing!

Oh poor Don! I feel sorry for him having to live those two weeks with your Dad. Lol. God knew your dad couldn't handle a son.

It's amazing how God provides! Wonderful that your mother would sew for the kids. My mother sewed lots of dresses for my older daughter and her daughters now use them.

What a spiritual torment that Don went through as such a tender age! Did he finally tell you later? It's sad that he couldn't share that he was being bullied. I guess he was like your husband in keeping things to himself.

You were wise to make sure that the "sun did not set on anger!" I can't believe his parents lived a whole year without talking to one another!

Thank for the review and great comments. Yes, my poor son did have some rather bad days in this post. He told us many years later about the boy and his guilt. I guess he'd realized by that time he didn't cause his death. When I knew my husband's parents, I found it hard to believe they had gone a year without speaking as well. Apparently they continued to live together, but would tell their children to relay the message when they had something they needed the other to know. I couldn't have lived like that.

Great post.
Noticed one typo:
Someone from the scholl (school) called and asked me to meet them at the emergency room.

Thank you for the review and great comments. I would imagine that my family is a lot like many other families. We made mistakes but we did the best we could and trusted to Lord to make something good out of feeble efforts.

Dear Beth, this post is one that a neighbor would love the read because she has gone back to college to become a psychologist. She loves to come over to our house to tell us what she learned about Family dynamics in classes that week.
I am wondering how your children and grandchildren are going to be affected by family dynamics because of the COVID sequester.

Thank you Suzanna. You are welcome to let you neighbor read this and maybe point out how we should have handled things. I'm sure we didn't do everything right but we can only do the best we can. Kids don't come with instructions. Some of the ways we reacted to situations had to do with the way we was brought up. Family dynamic for my three grandchildren will be different. They have grown up in a home were the parents didn't stay together. It is sad, but in spite of that, they seem to be turning our well. So far they are handling COVID better than I would have expected.
