arnie47: Absent for a long time, my bad. I've been formatting my stories to upload them on Amazon Kindle. I put together four (4) of them and titled them AMERICAN CASUALTIES. Now I'm going to compile them all in the next couple of weeks and put them up for sale also. Hope to get back here once I get this done and offer up some new stuff.

    arnie47: Thank you, Avril. Right now I just uploaded four (4) of my short stories trying to get a hang of kindle. It was hard, but now it will be easier. I put them on sale for 99 cents just to put a toe in the water. Only 19 sales so far, but most of them from people I know including me. Hope to get active hear again in the next few days. Have books that need to be finished and some new short stories I've been working on. -

arnie47: I've been tardy from this site for a while now due to this cataract and some other minor issues, but I'm trying to get back. The story I posted here FINAL RESIGNATION was accepted for publication in CICADA MAGAZINE! The letter was in my spam and I was in the process of dumping everything there. Needless to say I'm excited and encouraged.

arnie47: I have a script (feature length- 117 pages) Should I post the whole thing or just post a few scenes at a time? The problem being I don't know how to cut a few scenes as opposed to the whole thing. And I don't think I'll get as much feed back posting the whole thing. If I do a few scenes at a time, say 10 scenes per post I would have to type them up all over again, which is very feasible. Any suggestions?
    Border Reiver: If you want people to read it properly you should post a few scenes at a time. From what I've experienced so far the longet your post, the less people stop by. You're unlikely to find a reviewer who will read 117 pages in detail and give you honest feedback. Aim to post approximately 2000 words at a time. That usually keeps the audience.

I've been here for many years, and I can tell you, people will not stay tuned for 117 pages. collect reviews, be patient and post a little at a time. create a fan base, which I see you have, but to get other people to read it, beside an interest in your genre, it is sad to say, but you need to promote it high. When I post chapters of my novel, I only post a certain amount due tot the fact many wont read a novel halfway through, but my fans will. But id I have a short story, I try to review and earn as many dollars as possible to get a fuller perspective of peoples opinions. This is my opinion and suggestions.

arnie47: My computer crashed AGAIN!! This time I lost stuff I was working on, but all my completed stuff was saved to flash drives, thank God. But stuff I was working on was lost, maybe. This is the second time it crashed since February. I think it's time for a new one. Mine is just about 4 years old. Once I get through this crisis, I'll be posting again, and commenting. Was at a film festival over the weekend, saw about 17 movies and shorts. There were a couple of mediocre, but there were 3 or 4 outstanding ones.


arnie47: I've been on this site now for almost 2 weeks and have posted some stuff. The works I've posted were written before I got on this site, nothing new, but I felt I needed to get a look at my stuff thru other people's eyes; other people who share the same passion I do of writing. I've gotten some wonderful reviews and some not so wonderful, but all were honest and I learn from both. And both have the same result with me: They both spurn me on to write not only more but to write better. The wonderful reviews fill me with confidence and the not so wonderful ones drive me to get better, improve my craft, and make it as close to perfect as it can get.

I am so glad that I joined and so proud to be a member here. I just want to say thanks to everyone here and especially to all those who have taken the time to read and comment on my works.

This morning I woke up with the strongest desire to write than I've had in a long time. And for some reason it drives me to read more. I LOVE it here. I'll be kind of quiet this week; going to a film fest in Michigan Thursday, and my desktop is on the fritz, have to take it in and hopefully it will be ready to go when I get back on June 12. I just learned to copy and paste on it, I guess I could on my laptop. I can figure it out I guess, but anyway I'm rambling now. Thank you everyone.


arnie47: I'm getting a renewed charge of self confidence from being a member here and now I really want to create top notch stuff to post here. I'd be embarrassed to post horrible writings. It forces you to polish and polish and polish.

arnie47: Currently I am working on a novel and a couple of screenplays, but having a difficult time just sitting down and writing. Hopefully I can get a kick start here.
    arnie47: I've been contributing and reviewing stories and I am really beginning to get into it here. Thanks to everyone for making me feel right at home. And if I post something that you think really stinks, please say so. My feelings won't be hurt and it will spurn me onto to improve it or give it up as a lost cause. -
    arnie47: Does anyone receive a rating of less than 4 stars here? I mean I just gave someone 4 stars with positive feedback and they quesioned it. So I don't really know what the protocol is here; be nice and don't give less than 5 star reviews? Can anyone tell me what the story is here. -
    patwannabe: arnie, I had the same questions and problems when I first joined. The answer is yes and no. If you feel a post needs a four, be sure to give it, not only positive feedback, but tell them why you clicked on a four. One or two SPaG (Spelling, Punct and Grammar) doesn't warrant a four imo (in my opinion) but poor sentence structure, unclear ramblings and such, might. Never use the subject matter as a point of contention (lowering a rating). We all have our own opinion about what is black and/or white. Just tell the poster what you liked or didn't like about it, otherwise a five is good. lol (lots of laughs), there's also ROTFLM*O (rolling on the floor laughing my * off). BTW (by the way), welcome to FanStory. Get yourself a thick skin and enjoy. pat -
