A tasty morsel of history
A chapter in the book Spit, Gum and Shoe Laces
The Erie Canal

High tech transportation, for the times
Man made, taxes paid
Rugged work, travel perk Lives lost, tragic cost Project done, commerce won Mule ropes, trader hopes Barges home, drifters roam Towns grow, bridges low Two aside, barely wide Country breeds, growing needs Freight trains, shipping lanes Hauler truck, bad luck Quicker ways, less delays Dry locks, granite blocks Trail paved, history saved Peddle bikes, family hikes Long way, peaceful day ... here we go, Albany to Buffalo |
