I think this five line poem is very soothing to read. Yes, we all need shelter sometimes. I like the 's' sounds that flow throughout. Lovely presentation with the photo and colors. Good luck in the contest.

Thanx, Yvonne -- glad you enjoyed this one! :) And you're so right, we do all need a place of shelter from the comments and the harshness that life can be sometimes... even if that's just silence and another's breathing, that's good, too. :) :) May sunshine and solace find you this week there in Arkansas, my lady! ;) Yvette

Why doesn't someone do that for me? I could use some of those 'silken whispers' to make me feel better. Yesterday, my sister, (the good sister, you know I have one of each... lol) looked at her Facebook and saw a post from our niece... "Thanks to all of our friends and family who came out to share our special day, the christening of our Anna Grace" ... no one on our side of the family was even told. Some family.

Gee-yah.... yeah, it's like they go out into the world and something gets hold of them.... sigh. Thanx for the review, BLOTN -- I'm so far behind this week... but I'm not going down without a fight! ;) LOL! ;) Yvette

A very deep presentation here. The words in use bring a myriad of feelings forth that they could possibly be alluding to. Your own knowledge of the meaning is serenely hidden. Lovely portrayal in word and art.

Thanx, Rafy -- sometimes we have to keep things a little closer to the vest than others, yeah? :) But we do all need a place of shelter from the comments and the harshness that life can be sometimes.... even if that's just silence and another's breathing, that's good, too. :) :) May sunshine and solace find you this week, my lady! ;) Yvette

Hello Yvette. This is really an exceptional piece in my view. Even the appearance of the post is outstanding. The message is sensitive and introspective. In my view, this is the contest winner. Good luck Z

Thanx, Z -- the OCD-blonde gets a little wrapped sometimes about presentation... only happens when I really DON'T have the extra time, ya know?! LOL! LOL! ;) So glad you enjoyed this one, my friend! :) We do all need a place of shelter from the comments and the harshness that life can be sometimes... even if that's just silence and another's breathing, that's good, too. :) :) May sunshine and solace find you this week! ;) Yvette

Yvette,
Hmmm... obviously you're writing about someone else. There is no jaded soul at THIS house.
But it does make for a lovely poem. Your syllable count is perfect and the message is lyrical and haunting. Lovely!
Good luck!

Weell, let's just say I'm working on it when nobody else is around... :) :) Thanx for dropping by on this one, Robyn - always good to hear from you! :) And, yeah, we do all need a place of shelter from the comments and the harshness that life can be sometimes and even if that's just silence and another's breathing, that's good, too. :) :) May sunshine and solace find you this week (if you can find the sun with all these clouds - lol)! ;) Yvette

Excellent a much appreciated soothing piece which delivers a calm air of sophistication and a deliberate knowledge to know that all is well when rested in our own place. This piece is well refined duly educated in its thoughts and brings a delivery with it that is pleasing and steadfast releasing the solitude which is the ever blessed peace of stillness. The jaded soul can cast all sorts of aspersions on its enemies but to still it and to calm its thundering accusations is to master the heart and control the emotions such as this piece does and is. It conjures a majestic image of oneness and peace whereby we can rest assured there are such emotions to temper our fierce hearts.

A very well-written five-line poem about the murmurs of our hearts like soft silky whispers caressing our spirits and provide holy solace to our damaged souls.

This is an exceptional 5 line poem. You say so much within the confines of the format. I love the flow, as it is smooth as silk. I also notice and love the "s" sounds in the alliteration of the whole poem. My favorite lines are the last two. "and afford quiet solace for my jaded soul" is beautifully descriptive with wonderful choices of words. This also sounds authentic, as I can imagine you welcoming "silken whispers" to ease your jaded spirit. You can come across as jaded but, also with the wondrous eyes of a child. This is very well written and speaks to the wish I think we all have to calm our weary soul with some tenderness.
Take care, Jesse

Thank you, THANK YOU, Jesse -- what a lovely review!! ;) :) Your comments and those lovely stars are certainly a bright spot to all the gray that seems to hover around here these days...sigh. :) ;) And, yes, we do all need a place of shelter from the comments and the harshness that life can be sometimes.... even if that's just silence and another's breathing, that's good, too. :) :) Thanx again, sir -- and may sunshine and solace find you this week out there on the coast! ;) Yvette

Hi Yvette.
It was a pleasure to read and review this wonderful poem. I am so glad you liked my review. I agree that sometimes just silence and, add to that, another's breathing can shelter us from the harshness that life can dish out at times.
I appreciate the wish for sunshine and solace for me here on the coast. I'm getting enough of both to last me for a while, thankfully.
Take care, Jesse
