Hello Beth,
I know that I said I don't know how you remember of the various Happening that were written with concern about your family.
Now this about getting a job to make money was written. And it makes me to sit back through the years and bring back from the past I will say it again. You definitely know how to keep my interest

Beth,

I may be late, but at least this little review will put a ribbon on this chapter. Wow! There is a lot happening in this chapter. Here are
some lines that stood out to me and a comment...

"Apparently, no one was safe from having their jobs ripped away."
(Just like now)

"Before the month was up, Connie and Valerie were best friends again."
(Good...I was beginning to be concerned.)

"I admitted that I was extremely conservative with money. I never bought anything unless it was on sale."

(Not me...which may explain my financial condition.)

" We had a great relationship, and we didn't disagree about many things, but more than anything else, I had a problem with the side of you that wanted to keep me in the dark about anything that I might have a problem with."

Strong gal...Strong write here.
Thank you,

Anna

Thank Anna, It is always nice to know the story has a ribbon on it. Thank you so much. When you've four kids to put through college and a husband than wants to retire and at 56, it is an advantage to be, at least frugal, with money. I'm alone now so I not so stingy but getting what you want at a bargain is sort of a game. I passed that on to at least one of my kids.

Very true! I love a bargain...I shop at a store called Bealls Outlet. I'm a bargain shopper and I can totally relate to your thoughts here.

What a big responsibility to both had.
The father of my 3 sons wanted to retire at 55. He probably could have...He just got ousted at 66.5 years old with a huge severance pay...which he did not need. He's still flipping houses and storing up the big bucks for a rainy day...I guess? Still an arse.

I was not kidding in my poem that we live in a nest...at least it's paid for.

Beth...you are the best! Congrats on your script win. I loved it! That worries me a bit...lol

Hi Beth, this is another well written chapter to your memoir. I can see that money has become an issue that Evan didn't want to speak about. I just hope it didn't bring a wedge between you. I can also see how he wanted to help his family and you wanting to protect yours. I'm enjoying this. Ulla:)))

This didn't cause a serious rift. I could handle him giving money to his family. Keeping me the dark about it was what I had a problem with. Thank you so much for the review and the comments.

There's a lot going on with your extended family in this chapter, as well as your own. What an experience Evan's sister, Helen had! And it sounds rather ominous, that Rhomas was working at his last job... was he going to be alright?
It's great that Connie was so good at gymnastics. Maybe it gave her a focus for all that youthful energy! And your daughter Carol has such a kind heart. Yes, money disagreements can come up in families. It's good that you were able to communicate honestly with one another, after that initial hesitation.

My suggested revisions:

I'm sorry that I ran out of sixes already, because this chapter is quite interesting and involved. I'm always looking to see what's happening next, in your family!

Thank you again, my friend for seeing all the things that need editing. I appreciated you so much and wish they would let me nominate you each time. As fare as Rhomus' last job, they just don't become available that often, and he is getting older so he won't be able to find another one.

As an autobiography you are doing a really good job of remembering. It must have been a tense time with so many relatives out of work. Best wishes for you to get it all down.

Oh, that is so hard! I don't understand why Evan would keep that kind of information from you. Of all the fights my parents had it was precisely over giving money to relatives. I'm sorry that you went through that kind of stress on top of all that you were going through.

Thank you so much for the review and comments. Evan was person who would do anything to avoid a conflict. I know he carried about his family and couldn't bear to see them suffer but he didn't want any negative feedback from. He figured he could have it both ways if I didn't know about it. The men on this site seem to see his point of view more that the women. Women feel it's a partnership and we should know everything that happens. This was about the only thing we disagreed about so I tried to focus on the good things about him.

Dear Beth, This particular chapter hopscotched all over the map. I am so glad that I have been following your memoir since you started to write it, so I could deal with who was who, better than readers who had just joined in, and had to refer to your list of characters below.

Thank you so much for the review and comments. Yes, I write about what happens during a three or four month period of time. Life is like that. Many differed things happen. All my chapters, hopscotch all over the place. I don't think I can do it any other way. If I make it all about one thing I would never finish writing it. I'm sorry if you had a problem keeping up.

It's a good thing that you watched your money so you didn't end up like some of your relatives. Also understand the struggles of openness when it comes to money issues. Too often it's these that bring marriages to an end. I'm glad that you worked through them.

Thank you for the review and excellent comments. No one is completely perfect. If it is something that only happens occasionally it is worth getting over it. He had overlook some things as well. LOL

This is an interesting biography, you kept goood track o0f many people, and were involved in their difficulties. Your husbands son-in-law, Richard, with his excesses reminded me of a similar relative of mine who neglected his family to indulge his expensive hobbies.
Have seen long-time employees laid off because of their salaries, still a shame. Funny that Evan hid certain things from you that you might have had a problem with, but I think many couples do this.
Good story,
irish

Thank you so much for the review and comments. My husband didn't like conflict of any kind, and I guess he thought he would head of possible objections from me by not mentioning things. I'm sure none of us tells our mates everything thing that might upset them, but went we find out later we've been bypassed by something that might affect us as well, it makes for problems.
